The ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh organized the two-day Training Programme on “Nutritional Security and Women Empowerment through Mushroom Cultivation” from 26th to 27th August, 2021. The programme was organized under the ICAR-National Agricultural Science Fund Project - “Development and validation of need based technology delivery model through FPOs in Eastern Region of India”.
Shri Dilip Sonkar, Deputy Commissioner, National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), Varanasi Division, Uttar Pradesh marked his presence as the Chief Guest of the occasion.
During his interaction with the trainees, Prof. T.K. Behera, Director, ICAR-IIVR, Varanasi apprised them about the nutritional value of Mushroom and business opportunities of Mushroom Spawn Production, different kinds of Mushrooms (Button, Oyster and Milky) Production and value-addition.
The occasion also held a Brainstorming Session for developing the business model of Mushroom Enterprise through PPP Mode.
Around 17 women trainees were trained with practical and theoretical aspects of Mushroom production. The participants were also distributed with the Mushroom Production Kits.
The programme aimed at apprising the trainees about the Mushroom facilities and technologies available at the Institute was organized as a part of the ”Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 Years of India’s Independence.
