The ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Kochi, Kerala organized a four-day long International Virtual Training Programme on “Value-Chain Management in Fisheries” from 13th to 16th September, 2021.
The Guest of Honor, Shri K.S. Srinivas, I.A.S., Chairman, MPEDA, Kochi, Kerala applauded the ICAR-CIFT’s contributions in fish processing. He stated that the partnership of ICAR-CIFT with AARDO can foster the collaboration to harness the potential of harvest and post-harvest fisheries.
The Guest of Honor, His Excellency, Dr. Manoj Nordeosingh, Secretary General, African-Asian Rural Development Organisation (AARDO), New Delhi emphasized that the programme may give an impetus to the efforts for bringing a balance in the Asian-African Region in fishery value-chain management system. This may help in furthering the value of fish, its quality and distribution along the value-chain.
In his address, Dr. Ravishankar C.N., Director, ICAR-CIFT, Kochi emphasized on the importance of the fisheries sector in ensuring the nutritional security. He stressed on the need for reducing the post-harvest loss in fisheries sector by developing better cold chain facilities.
The programme was aimed at strengthening the research and technology collaboration of India with the AARDO Member Countries in the field of fishing and fish processing.
The Scientists from ICAR-CIFT and officials from AARDO, New Delhi along with a total of 73 participants from 22 AARDO Member Countries in Asia and Africa also virtually participated in the programme.
