Curtain Raiser Ceremony of Programme on “International Year of Millets - 2023” organized

The ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh organized a Curtain Raiser Ceremony of the Programme on “International Year of Millets - 2023” today.

Prof. T.K. Behera, Director, ICAR-IIVR, Varanasi outlined the role of nutri-cereals and vegetables on human health. Dr. Behera also distributed vegetable kitchen garden packets to the farmers and girl students for enhancing the nutritional security among the villagers, particularly, girls during the occasion.

The participants were also provided with the Millets based food items. Around 100 Saplings of Guava, Citrus and Papaya were planted in the Institute premises by the Institute’s Staff Members and Girl Students to mark the celebrations.

More than 100 Farmers and 71 Girl Students and Women participated in the programme.
