The ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology, Kolkata organized a five-day Virtual Refresher Course on “Mechanical Processing of Natural Fibres” from 21st to 25th September, 2021.
In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. G. Nalankilli, Director, Uttar Pradesh Textile Institute, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh stressed on the maximum use of products made from natural fibres as compared to products from synthetic fibres.

In his valedictory address, the Chief Guest, Dr. A. Sahoo, Director, ICAR-National Research Centre on Camel, Bikaner, Rajasthan emphasized on the scope of animal fibre to be used as blending material with ligno-cellulosic fibres to enhance the functional characteristic of material prepared from them.
Earlier, in his address, Dr. D.B. Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata encouraged the Budding Scientists, Researchers and Students to bring new & ground-breaking ideas and methods that can use the same natural fibre in a wholly different way to minimize the effect of artificial fibre in the nature.
The programme was aimed at apprising and encouraging the awareness of natural fibre and its processing.
About 20 participants including Assistant Professors, Scientists, Subject Matter Specialists, Research Scholars, Industry Persons from different Universities and Private Organizations from across the country participated in the programme.
