The ICAR-Directorate of Coldwater Fisheries Research, Bhimtal, Uttarakhand organized a Training Programme on “Best Management Practices of Rainbow Trout Farming” today. The programme was organized under the NEH activity in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries, Government of Arunachal Pradesh at Convention Centre, Mechuka.

Inaugurating the programme, the Chief Guest, Shri Mito Dirchi, Deputy Commissioner, Shi-Yomi District, Arunachal Pradesh stated that despite the hardships faced by the beneficiaries in constructing the raceways, their sincere efforts enabled the Trout Farming in Mechuka. He also highlighted the potential of Mechuka in the Integrated Fish Farming along with the other animals.
The Guest of Honor, Shri Joysil Taba, Director of Fisheries, Government of Arunachal Pradesh briefed about the potential of the Coldwater Fish Farming. He emphasized that the culture of Rainbow Trout could help in the upgradation of livelihood of the local fish farmers. He also stressed on establishing the Regional Centre with the State-of-the-Art Trout Farming facilities of ICAR-DCFR at Mechuka.
At the outset, delivering the welcome address, Shri Tapan Dutta, DFDO, Mechuka briefed about the main objectives of the programme.
