The Department of Posts, Government of India released the Special Postal Cover to commemorate the 17th Foundation Day of the ICAR-National Research Centre on Pomegranate, Solapur, Maharashtra today.
Shri H.C. Agrawal, Chief Postmaster General, Mumbai Circle and Dr. Rajiv A. Marathe, Director, ICAR-NRC on Pomegranate, Solapur released the Postal Cover.
The Postal Cover’s front side depicts the Pomegranate Technologies (Biofortified Variety - “Solapur Lal”, bio-hardened tissue culture planting material and processed products) developed by the Centre and the geographical coverage of Pomegranate cultivation in a short span of 16 Years by the ICAR-NRC on Pomegranate, Solapur. The backside displays the importance of Pomegranate in 3 languages.
Dr. Jyotsana Sharma, Principal Scientist and Shri Yuvraj Shinde, Senior Technical Assistant, ICAR-NRC on Pomegranate, Solapur designed the Postal Cover.
Dr. Marathe also released the Book on “Good Management Practices in Pomegranate” on the occasion.
The Senior Officials of the ICAR Institutes along with Shri Pratap Kate, Vice-President, All Maharashtra Pomegranate Growers’ and Research Organization, Pune, Maharashtra and Progressive Pomegranate Growers of the region were also present during the occasion.
