23 - 26 February, 2022, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar
The ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Kolkata Centre conducted the two Skill Development Training Programmes on “Aquaculture Technologies as Livelihood Options” from 23rd to 24th and 25th to 26th February, 2022 at Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar, respectively.
The programmes were organized under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan Programme for 200 Fish Farmers of the two Districts of West Bengal.

Dr. Ravishankar C.N., Director & Vice-Chancellor, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai, Maharashtra and Dr. G.H. Pailan, Principal Scientist & Officer-in-Charge, ICAR-CIFE, Kolkata Centre initiated the programmes.
In his address, Dr. Gouranga Biswas, Senior Scientist, ICAR-CIFE, Kolkata Centre highlighted the modern and innovative methods of fish culture, fish health and disease management. The use of the high value fish species and utilization of natural fish food items like Planktons and Periphyton in aquaculture to increase the returns from the existing farming systems were highlighted by Dr. Biswas.
