The ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema, Nagaland in collaboration with the ICAR-National Research Centre on Meat, Hyderabad organized the Training Programme on “Augmenting Farmers’ Income in the NEH Region through Promotion of Entrepreneurship in Mithun Meat Processing and Value-Addition” for the farmers and butchers today.


The Chief Guest, Dr. Sentinungla Ao, Deputy Director, DMC, Dimapur, underlined the shortage of meat production in Nagaland. She also stressed on the implementation of the Piggery, Poultry and Mithun Rearing Schemes in the State.
Dr. M.H. Khan, Director, ICAR-NRC on Meat, Hyderabad emphasized on promoting the scientific and alternative semi-intensive method of Mithun Rearing. The diversified use of Mithun for Meat and Milk and stopping the slaughter of Mithun for table purpose only were also underlined by Dr. Khan.
Around 20 farmers from the Noklak District, 6 Butchers from Dimapur District, Scientists, Staff Members of the Institute participated in the programme.
