Awareness Programme on “Health benefits and cultivation of Nutri-cereal (Millets)” for CRPF Staff Members and Soldiers organized

The ICAR-Indian Institute of Millets Research, Hyderabad and Multi-Technology Testing Centre & Vocational Training Centre, College of Fisheries, Central Agricultural University, Imphal organized an Awareness Programme on “Health benefits and cultivation of Nutri-cereal (Millets)” under the North-Eastern Hills Project of ICAR-IIMR, Hyderabad today. The programme was organized in collaboration with the Central Reserve Police Force, Agartala.

Dr. Vilas A. Tonapi, Director, ICAR-IIMR, Hyderabad and Dr. Pramod Kumar Pandey, Dean, College of Fisheries, CAU, Imphal along with the other senior officials of the ICAR Institutes and CRPF participated in the programme.

In his address, Shri Q.I. Jeelani, Deputy Commandant, CRPF, Agartala urged the participants for including the Millets in their diet.

The MTTC & VTC, Lembucherra has been implementing the Project entitled “Development of Millets based Nutri-economic Model for Tripura: Addressing Nutrition of Consumers & Livelihood Security of Farmers”.

The programme was aimed at orienting the CRPF Staff Members and Soldiers about the health benefits of Millets consumption.

During the programme, the CRPF personnel were also apprised about the different Millet crops, their health and nutritional benefits and the various recipes and Millet-based food technologies developed by the ICAR-IIMR, Hyderabad.

The programme registered participation by more than 50 participants.
