The ICAR-Central Soil Salinity Research Institute, Karnal, Haryana celebrated its “53rd Foundation Day” today.
Dr. Chindi Vasudevappa, Vice-Chancellor, National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management, Sonipat, Haryana delivered a Lecture on “Role of Food Processing for doubling farmers’ income”.
In his address, Dr. Vasudevappa highlighted the importance of soil reclamation in ensuring food security to the vast million population of the country. He also outlined the need for adopting modern agricultural practices for improving agricultural profitability, thereby, contributing towards income enhancement of the farmers.
Dr. P.C. Sharma, Director, ICAR-CSSRI briefed about the Institute’s achievements in research and development. He also underlined the Institute’s collaboration with the several other organizations in promoting the soil reclamation technologies and ensuring higher efficiency in utilization of agricultural inputs, thereby, contributing towards doubling the farmers’ income.
Around 250 Staff Members of the Institute and other invited guests also participated in the event.
