The ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar, Odisha organized a one-day Workshop on “Pre-Kharif Rice Workshop & Skill Upgradation Programme on Paddy Straw Mushroom Cultivation” under the ICAR-National Agricultural Science Fund Project in Sankilo Village, Nischintakoili Block, Cuttack District, Odisha today.
Shri Suresh Ch. Jena, Retired District Agriculture Officer also discussed the various aspects for livelihood security of farm women.
Earlier, in her welcome address, Dr. Lipi Das, Principal Scientist & Project Investigator outlined the main objectives of the Project that aims at empowering the farm women based on the identified gender gap on social, health and nutrition, environmental, economical and technological aspects. She also stressed on 3E's concept for women, that is, Equity, Entrepreneurship and Empowerment.
The various technologies intervened under three modules were exhibited along with the release of a Brochure on “Women Empowerment and Gender Sensitization - Developing a model for bridging the gender gap” during the occasion.
The participants were demonstrated the paddy straw mushroom cultivation and provided with the improved varieties of vegetable seeds and mushroom spawn, improved sickle, pesticides, fungicides, and mineral mixture, etc.
The Workshop registered a total participation by 70 participants including scientists of ICAR-CIWA, farm women and Secretary of Nigam, NGO.
