The ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and Bhopal Chapter of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh jointly organized the Webinar on “Future of Science & Technology on Natural Resources Management in Agriculture” on the occasion of the National Science Day today.
In his Lead Lecture, Dr. R.T. Patil, Former Director, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana, Punjab highlighted the role of futuristic technologies to address the utilization of key natural resources like biomass. He also underlined the prospects of some new technologies like artificial intelligence, cooling technologies, etc., to address the problems of post-harvest losses. Dr. Patil emphasized on connecting science and society and stressed on the need to highlight the judicious use of natural resources.
In his Lead lecture, Dr. D.K. Pal, Former Visiting Scientist, ICRISAT emphasized on the role of soil in food and nutrition security. He also outlined some new research areas like ecosystem services provided by soils and the role of soil inventory in NRM.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. Ashok K. Patra, Director, ICAR-IISS, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh & Convener of NAAS, Bhopal Chapter outlined the crucial role of natural resources in sustaining food production.
The senior officials of ICAR Institutes and State Agricultural Universities also virtually participated in the Webinar.
