ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Ludhiana, celebrated its Foundation Day today.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, Punjab Agricultural University, emphasised the need for making agriculture a more lucrative profession by focusing on strategies to increase farmers' income. He highlighted the key approaches such as entrepreneurship development, value addition, and processing of farm produce, along with the promotion of GI products specific to respective regions.
Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, urged the need of training the trainers and consolidation of KVKs as well as the effective convergence and partnership building with line departments for implementation of State/Centre Government flagship programs in agriculture and allied sector.
Dr. A K Singh, Former Deputy Director General (NRM) & Vice-Chancellor, The Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Gwalior, highlighted the key role of KVKs and state-of-the-art capacity building of trainers in futuristic areas of operation like carbon and green credits, multiple usage of agri-drones, digital extension etc.
More than 200 participants including Directors of Extension Education along with Programme Coordinators of KVKs, Padma Shree Awardee and innovative farmers of zone-1 attended the programme.
