ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone-I, Ludhiana and Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana jointly organised a review meeting on Crop Residue Management (CRM) project. All the 60 CRM implementing Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh participated in the said workshop.
The Chief Guest of the inaugural session, Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University, Ludhiana, emphasised upon pioneering research efforts dedicated to standardising best practices for utilising paddy straw as a viable alternative to conventional dry fodder sources for livestock. He also stressed upon socio-economic impact of initiatives led by KVKs, in disseminating knowledge and facilitating the adoption of diverse crop residue management options.
The Chief Guest of the valedictory session, Dr. Ranjay Kumar Singh, ADG (Agril. Extn.), ICAR, emphasised on the imperativeness of quality of work and evidence-based reporting by taking KVKs credibility and reputation to newer heights.
Dr. Parvender Sheoran, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana, briefed about the CRM project's achievements, executed by KVKs across four states, spanning from 2018-19 to 2022-23. He outlined plans and roadmap awareness programs for the upcoming 'Parali Prabandhan Chetna Yatra' and 'Technology Sensitisation-cum-Awareness Pakhwara', which aims to raise awareness about residue management.
