ICAR-IIHR Industry Meet 2023

An Industry Meet was organised by ICAR- Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru, in collaboration with IP&TM Unit, ICAR, today at the Dr. G. S. Randhawa Auditorium, ICAR-IIHR.

Dr. Sudhakar Pandey, Assistant Director General (Flower/ Veg. /Spices/ Med. Plants) was the Chief Guest of the event. Dr. Pandey elucidates the horticultural research scenario in different ICAR institutes, the overall view on technology commercialization, discussions on easing regulatory compliances and the leads taken towards popularizing and sale of ICAR technologies through online channels like Kisan Mart and Amazon.

Dr. Saiprasad Gandra, Senior Principal Scientist, ITC Life Sciences & Technology Centre, Bangalore was the Guest of Honour at the event. He elucidates the gaps and non-technological limitations confronted when associating with a Governmental agency like the regulatory compliances and associated delays.

Dr. K. S. Mahesh, General Manager, NABARD delivered the address as Guest of Honour and described the various schemes supported by NABARD for the benefit of Startups.

The meeting was followed by technology licensing MoU exchanges for three ICAR-IIHR technologies namely Arka Sasya Poshak Ras to M/s. Chully Farm, Kasaragod, Kerala; Arka Mango Wash technology to Shri. Krishna Chandra Mahapatra, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, and Machinery drawings of Raised Bed Onion bulbet Planter to M/s. A G Industries, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

The first publication released at the event was “Arka Mango Wash - A Technology for Removal of fruit blackening caused by sooty blotch” by Dr. G. Sangeetha and Dr. H. S. Singh. Another publication released was “Technology Commercialization @ ICAR-IIHR Trends & Leads - The Way Forward” Compiled and edited by Dr. B. L. Manjunath, Dr. R. Umamaheshwari, Dr. H. V. Harish Kumar, Dr. K. P. Pooja, Mrs. R. S. Rajeshwari, Shri. H. S. Raghavendra.

An exhibition was arranged during the event where various ICAR Institutes in the South Horticultural Zone exhibited their licensed technologies along with their incubates.

In total 92 participants which included industrialists, aspiring entrepreneurs and start-ups registered for the Industry Meet and contributed to the successful execution of the event.
