ICAR-NBSS & LUP organises “Sustainable Agricultural Land Use Planning for Livelihood Improvement of Farming Community”

ICAR-National Bureau of Soil Survey & Land Use Planning, Regional Centre, Kolkata, organised a capacity building programme-cum-input distribution under SCSP Project on Sustainable Agricultural Land Use Planning for Livelihood Improvement of Farming Community, in collaboration with N-24 Parganas Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ashok Nagar, at remote islands of Sundarbans, West Bengal, today.

The major objective of the programme was to sensitize the scheduled caste farmers about integrated farming system, approach based land use planning focusing on climate vulnerable zones of Sunderland islands.

Dr. F. H. Rahman, Head, RC, encouraged the beneficiaries to utilize the resources to its fullest extent for enhancing their livelihood income and promote the IFS model approach in combating climate vulnerability of that region.

A total of 30 identified beneficiary farmers were given diversified farming components-cum-inputs consisting of Fish fingerlings, Chicks (Vanraja breed), Fishnet, Beehives, Nutri Garden pack and new innovative product of floating duck bed developed by one of the progressive farmers of that selected beneficiaries in collaboration with N-24 Parganas KVK.
