A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today between ICAR- National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning & Department of Agriculture, Government of Tripura for Land Resource Inventory project of two districts of Tripura state at large scale for agricultural land use planning using geo-spatial techniques. Preparation of soil-based interpretative maps like land capability, fertility capability and soil site suitability for crops will be the deliverables of the districts namely Gomati and South Tripura to be covered (3,05,700 ha). The aims and objectives of the project are holistic development of farming community using soil resource information, hydrology, socio-economic database-based alternate land use options as input for a decision support system (DSS) towards the integrated watershed development and planning.

Maity, Principal, College of Agriculture, Tripura, Smt. Banashree Roy Chowdhury, Joint Director, Dept. of Agriculture and other Officials from Dept. of Agriculture, Govt. of Tripura were present.
