ICAR-NMRI, Hyderabad organises an Interactive session on food safety

ICAR – National Meat Research Institute, Hyderabad, organized an Interactive meeting on ‘Developing roadmap for ensuring quality and safety of foods of animal origin’ on today under the aegis of ‘Strengthening of food testing system in the country’. The objective of the interactive session was to establish a strategic framework that addresses key challenges in the production, processing, and distribution of animal-origin foods.

The Chief Guest, Dr. R.M. Sundaram, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research, Hyderabad emphasised the importance of food safety in our day-to-day life.

Guest-of Honour, Dr. Rahul Narang, Dean (Academic), AIIMS, Hyderabad, spoke about food safety as an important One Health issue.

Dr. S. B. Barbuddhe, Director of ICAR-National Meat Research Institute, emphasized combining industry expertise, regulatory bodies, and academia to improve the safety and quality standards in the food supply chain. A technical session was also organized to discuss food safety aspects.

About 150 participants attended the event.
