Smt Monika Garg, Agriculture Production Commissioner, Uttar Pradesh visits ICAR-IARI

The Agriculture Production Commissioner Smt Monika Garg visited ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute today. She visited the field demonstration of recent varieties of mustard, marigold, and vegetables at ICAR-Indian Agriculture Research Institute. Smt Garg also participated in the workshop organized to prepare a roadmap to improve the seed delivery system of the UP.

Following the field visit, Dr Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-IARI, provided an overview of the various ICAR-IARI technologies that are suitable for Uttar Pradesh. He expressed a strong interest in collaborating closely with the Uttar Pradesh State Agricultural Department to promote the adoption of ICAR-IARI technologies among industries and farmers, aiming to enhance the welfare of farmers in the region.

During the workshop, a brief presentation was given on various ICAR-IARI varieties suitable for Uttar Pradesh, along with the process of seed multiplication and the dissemination of ICAR-IARI varietal technologies. The seed entrepreneurs provided feedback on ways to make the seed system more dynamic and effective.

The workshop led to the identification of key interventions needed to strengthen the seed system in the state of UP.
