Interaction Meet with KVKs of West Bengal

ICAR-Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibres, Kolkata, organised an Interaction Meet with Krishi Vigyan Kendra of West Bengal at, Barrackpore, Kolkata, today.

Dr. Gouranga Kar, Director, ICAR-CRIJAF emphasised the technologies commercialized by the institute and its impact on improving the productivity and quality of jute and allied fibres. He urged all the Heads of the KVKs, Director, and Directorate of Extension Education of two State Agriculture / Animal Science University to use the ICAR-CRIJAF technologies for up scaling larger interest of the farming communities as well as to fulfil the Sustainable Development Goals of the nation.

Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR- Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, was also present during the programme.

Dr. P. Bandyopadhyay, Director, Directorate of Extension Education, BCKV, Mohanpur, asked the representatives of KVKs to choose the technologies as per their agro-ecological zones and suitability of the area.

Three brief presentations were made by the Scientists of ICAR-CRIJAF about the Strategies for Upscaling Technologies of Jute & Allied Fibre Based Farming System through KVKs. They highlighted all the important technologies developed & achievements of the institute for the farmers and discussed the future plan for boosting the jute and allied fibre sector for national development.

About 50 participants including Heads of KVKs, scientists of the Institute, Dignitaries of ICAR institutes, participated in this programme.
