Under the aegis of Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, Govt of India, around 10,000 Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATL) have been established at several Schools throughout India. A new initiative named as ATL- KVK & ATMA Interface has been undertaken, courtesy joint collaborative efforts on the part of NITI Aayog, Department of Agricultural Research & Education (DARE)/Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare.
Dr. U.S. Gautam, Deputy Director General (Agril. Extension); Assistant Directors General (AE) Dr. R.R. Burman and Dr. R.K. Singh; Dr. J.P. Mishra, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Jodhpur as well as Dr. Sujeet K. Jha & Dr. Keshava, Principal Scientists (Agriculture Extension) visited Bal Bharati Public School, Dwarka, New Delhi today. Two other teams representing NITI Aayog and Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare from Govt. of India also joined the team of DARE/ICAR.
The teams were shown a wide range of scientific models/prototypes developed by the students of Classes 6 to 12. They also interacted with the Teachers & Students involved in the activities of the ATL.
They visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ujwa, New Delhi to facilitate the students to have a first-hand exposure to the activities being carried out at the KVV’s. The team’s members and the students interacted with the Head of KVK as well as some agri-entrepreneurs & progressive farmers.
Dr. Gautam elaborated upon several critical issues involved in implementation of the ATL - KVK & ATMA Interface across all the ATLs & KVKs of our country.
Ms. Deepali Upadhyay, Programme Director, Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, Govt of India briefed about the ATL and its objectives.
Dr. Sujeet K. Jha, Principal Scientist (Agril. Extension) presented an overview of KVK & its activities.
An exhibition was also put up by some of the FPOs & SHGs promoted by the KVK. During the course of interaction among all these stakeholders including the people representing 11 ATARIs, 11 KVKs & 55 ATLs who had joined the said meeting, joined virtually, the participants were briefed about the ATL & its objectives.
