Mid-term review workshop of Krishi Vigyan Kendras Eastern Plain Zone (UP)

A two-day Mid-term review workshop of 17 Krishi Vigyan Kendras under the Eastern Plain Zone (UP) of ICAR- Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone-III, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh was inaugurated on 12th October 2023.

Dr. Shantanu Kumar Dubey, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kanpur, said that this workshop is being organised to review the progress and finalize the action plan for the year 2024 of KVKs of Uttar Pradesh. He also said that all the Krishi Vigyan Kendras are doing excellent work in all the fields of agriculture but there should be proper documentation of the work done by them which is very important for policy making and research by universities. Each KVK should select and demonstrate the technology keeping in mind the problem in the selected villages.

Dr. S.K. Singh, Principal Scientist, ICAR-ATARI, Kanpur, said it is the responsibility of the Subject matter specialists (SMS) of various subjects at each KVK to solve all the problems faced by the farmers in the field of KVKs to work along with the farmers.

Dr. R.R. Singh, Director Extension, ANDUAT, Ayodhya, gave in-depth information about the vision of the KVKs of the University, Ayodhya. He urged everyone to observe and study the problems arising in whatever technology reaches the farmers' fields such as weed management and fertilizer management, insects etc.

Dr. S.S. Singh, Director Extension, Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University, Jhansi, gave introductory remarks on Krishi Vigyan Kendras. He also urged all the KVKs for proper documentation of information about whatever varieties are being planted in paddy and wheat, the percentage of each variety etc. If KVKs work together with FPOs on technology transfer, they will get 100% success.

Dr. O.P. Singh, former Director of Extension, SVPUAT, Meerut, gave an address on this occasion. He also inspired all the scientists present to think like a scientist.
