ICAR-National Research Center for Integrated Pest Management, Rajpur Khurd, New Delhi in collaboration with Rajmata Vijayraje Scindia Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya-KVK, Morena, Madhya Pradesh, organised a Mustard Field Day today for the management of pests and diseases of mustard.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Subhash Chander, Director, ICAR-NCIPM, emphasized the importance of Integrated Pest Management and urged against the use of synthetic pesticides in crops. He urged the use of bio-control agents like Trichoderma, Neem Seed Kernel extract, and Neem oil as alternatives and emphasised the conservation of friendly insects.
Dr. SS Tomer, Associate Director, Research, RVSKVV-Zonal Agril. Research Station, Morena, MP stressed agronomic practices in pest management.
Dr. Prasant Gupta, Head, RVSKVV-KVK, Morena emphasised the role of KVK in disseminating IPM technology.
The latest literature on IPM approaches against major pests and diseases of mustard crops was distributed among participating farmers. A Farmer-Scientist interaction was held at the end and the farmers were convinced with IPM mustard technology.
More than 136 farmers participated in Mustard Field Day.
