Neem Summit 2024 and 3rd Global Neem Trade Fair

Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR inaugurated the Neem Summit 2024 and 3rd Global Neem Trade Fair here today.

Dr. P.K. Singh, Agricultural Production Commissioner, and Justice Honorable K.T. Tated, Chairman, Human Rights Commission, Government of Maharashtra were the Guests of Honor of the inaugural ceremony.

  

The event is being organized by the World Neem Organization in collaboration with lCAR-Central Agroforestry Research Institute, Jhansi from 19-20 February 2024 at the NASC Complex.

The distinguished guests highlighted the importance of Neem in human well-being. With the Country's priority of promoting neem-coated urea and neem-based health products, growing neem in the country becomes vital and this calls for a national-level mission

  

Dr. A. Arunachalam, Director, ICAR-CARI introduced the program and Dr. Rajbir Singh, Assistant Director General (Agronomy, Agrofrestry & Climate Change), ICAR gave remarks on the Neem.

On the occasion, the 2nd WNO Seminar on the theme "Neem for Sustainable Agriculture, Health and Environment” is also being organized.

The seminar is being attended by around 250 participants, including 10 overseas participants.

Earlier, Dr. B.N. Vyas, President, WNO president delivered the welcome address.

Around 22 companies from India and abroad are participating and showcasing their products at the Global Neem Trade Fair.

The Summit flagged neem as a plantation forestry option that would sustain the raw material requirements of industry. At the same time, neem trees for carbon farming were also advocated in the program. The 2-day program has about 7 technical sessions to deliberate on various technical matters on neem research and development for society and industry.

The Souvenir, WNO Calendar and Technical Bulletin titled “Neem Field Gene Bank - Provisioning Opportunities for Conservation and Utilization” were released followed by the WNO Documentary launch.

Dr. Nirmala Kothari, Secretary General, WNO proposed the Vote of Thanks.
