The Kolkata Centre of ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai organized an International Short Term Training Programme (STTP) on “Advances in Freshwater Aquaculture” from 19th to 28th September, 2019.
Dr. Gopal Krishna, Director & Vice-Chancellor, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai inaugurated the programme.
Prof. P. Biswas, Vice-Chancellor, West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences and Dr. S.S. Singh, Director, ATARI, Zone-II, Kolkata marked their presence during the Valedictory Function.
During the programme, the participants were provided with the first hand exposure to the latest development in freshwater aquaculture related to the broodstock management, seed production, re-circulatory systems, disease management, etc.
The participants were also exposed to the field visits to various farms, fish hatcheries, feed mill, processing plants and other important sites during the 10-day programme.
The programme funded by the Ministry of External Affairs under the India-Africa Forum Summit - III registered a total participation 11 delegates from 4 African countries namely Kenya (5), Madagascar (2), Malawi (2) and Tanzania (2), respectively.
