Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary DARE and Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi laid the Foundation Stone of Technology Park of Directorate of Water Management, Bhubaneswar.
During the interaction with the scientists, he stressed upon the proper planning and implementation of research activities during XII Plan period addressing the challenges and bringing the second green revolution in the country. ‘Farmers First’ will be the key in all future research endeavors.
He discussed about the ongoing research activities and provided valuable inputs for the future works to be undertaken. He emphasized that the institute should develop linkages and collaborations with KVKs and other institutions. In his concluding remarks he stated that Water management has never been so critical as it is today.
Earlier, Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Director, DWM presented an overview of the major achievements of the institute. Dr. Ayyappan also visited the installation site of Rubber Dam on 04th January, 2012 at Chandeswar of Khudha district, Odisha. He interacted with the farmers and scientists about the pros and cons of Rubber dam. The research endeavor was appreciated by all.
