Training on Advanced Buffalo Husbandry organized at CIRB, Hisar

A one week training programme on advanced buffalo husbandry was completed on 28th October 2013 at the Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes (CIRB), Hisar. The objective of programme was to encourage youth for adopting advance scientific rearing and breeding of buffaloes to increase milk production.

Successful dairy entrepreneur Shri Surjeet Malik from Umra, Hisar, as chief guest, motivated the youths for dairy business. He has now 40 buffaloes, each yielding more than 20 Kg of milk per day and about 4000-6200 kg per lactation. He adopted scientific rearing and breeding of buffaloes from 1999. He also acknowledged the help and guidance provided by CIRB in his business. He encouraged new comers to adopt scientific system in Murrah buffalo husbandry.

Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Director, CIRB congratulated all trainees and coordinators, Dr. (Mrs) P. Sikka, Dr. PC Lailer and Smt. Sunesh Balhara for successful completion of the program. He reiterated the policy of ‘farmers first’ of ICAR and further assured the stakeholders in buffalo production system for continued support from the institute and its scientists.

Dairy entrepreneurs and educated unemployed youth form Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand participated in the program. Institute organizes training programme time to time, this year 300 youths have been trained by CIRB so far.
