National Research Centre on Meat, Hyderabad celebrated its 8th Foundation day on 22nd February, 2014. On the occasion Dr. Vijay Gupta,World Food Prize Laureate delivered the Foundation Day Lecture as Chief Guest.
In his address, he congratulated NRC on Meat on its foundation day and expressed his happiness over good number of entrepreneurs and industry personnel actively collaborating with the Institute in different activities. Dr. Gupta stressed upon the need of poverty alleviation to ensure nutritional security. He discussed the current topic like global hunger, climate change and developments happening in other south-east Asian countries and challenges and opportunities for India etc.
On this occasion, Dr. Vijay Gupta launched the e-portal from e-fresh, Hyderabad wherein NRC on Meat link will be uploaded with separate windows for clean meat production and value added meat products for wider reach among common public. He also released other NRC on Meat publications viz, Technologies & Success Stories, Research Highlights and Technology Inventory Brochure.
Dr. Padma Raju, Vice-Chancellor, ANGRAU, Hyderabad and Mr. Subash Chandra, Deputy General Manager, NABARD, Hyderabad also addressed the gathering as Guest of Honours.
Earlier, Dr. V.V. Kulkarni, Director, NRC on Meat welcomed the dignitaries and presented an overview of work done, achievements, technology transfers, entrepreneurship development, industry collaborations and various other research, extension and capacity building activities of the institute. Dr. G. Venugopal, Principal Scientist, NRC on Meat coordinated the event.
Former directors of NRC on Meat; Associate Dean, SVVU, Hyderabad; Ex-President, IMSA; participants from NGO; entrepreneurs; meat industry representatives; and students participated in the event.
