A training programme on woolen products manufacturing and designing for rural women was organized at Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute (CSWRI), Avikanagar on 24th March 2014.
Presiding over the inaugural function, Dr. M.P. Yadav, Secretary, National Academy of Agriculture Science (NAAS) and the Chief Guest of the event said women empowerment is the need of the day. He further said, such training programme will open new employment opportunities for rural women and improve their social status.
In his presidential address, Dr. S.M.K. Naqvi, Director, CSWRI informed that it is the third programme being conducted for rural women to enhance their skills. He also explained the technologies developed by the institute for coarse wool utilization and converting them into value added products.
Dr. D.B. Shakyawar, Principal Scientist and I/C TMTC briefed about the background, importance and subject areas to be covered under the programme. The programme is being sponsored by Central Wool Development Board.
Two folders namely, ‘Innovative anti-moth finishing for pashmina shawls’ and ‘Development of standard quality norms for pashmina shawls’ were also released by the Chief Guest on the occasion.
