The 86th foundation day of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) was celebrated at the Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research, Anand, Gujarat. On this occasion, Shri Shailesh Ishwarbhai Patel, a progressive sugarcane growing farmer and the Chairman, Smt. Savitaben Patel Education & Charitable Trust, Savita Sankul, was the Chief Guest, Dr. Nitin Kumar Sharma, Director, Savita Sankul, was the Guest of Honour and the function was presided over by Dr. P. Manivel, Director (Acting), DMAPR, Anand.
Shri Patel in his address emphasized on the importance of the role of farmers and agricultural scientists in the development of agriculture in the country. He applauded the significant achievements of ICAR in country. Dr. Nitin Sharma appreciated the exposure of students to the frontier technologies of agricultural research in the Directorate.
Dr. P. Manivel, Director (Acting), DMAPR, in his presidential address, advised the students to understand the importance of agriculture in our country and encouraged them to contribute effectively towards the future of agriculture in the country.
Earlier, Dr. Vandana Tripathy, Senior Scientist, DMAPR welcomed the participants and outlined the gathering about the significance and role of ICAR in the Indian Agriculture.
The event was attended by the staff and scientists of DMAPR, teachers and students from the Takshashila School, Boriavi, Anand. The teachers and students also interacted with the scientists of the Directorate.
