Pre Kharif Sammelan-cum-Krishi Mela

The Pre Kharif Sammelan-cum-Krishi Mela was organized at KVK, Chinyalisaur, Uttarkashi and KVK, Kafligair, Bageshwar on June 22 & June 27, 2015, respectively.

At Chinyalisaur, Smt. Mala Raj Laxmi Shah, Member of Parliament inaugurated the exhibition and kisan mela as Chief Guest. She was briefed about various technologies developed by ICAR-Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan, Almora. An interaction meet of farmers with a team of scientists from ICAR-VPKAS and ICAR-IISWC was also organized, in which various were discussed.

On the occasion, the two publications of the KVK namely, “Swayam Sahayta samooh – Badi Bachat ki nanhi shuruat” and “Swasthya Bardhan evam aay arjan hetu buransh squash” were also released.

Around 350 farmers and 46 officials from different organizations participated in the event.

At Bageshwar, Shri Ajay Tamta, Member of Parliament, Almora & Pithoragarh was the Chief Guest. He urged the farmers to adopt scientific methods for increasing agriculture production, keeping in view the changing scenario and modern communication technologies. 

Shri Chandan Ram Das, MLA, Bageshwar said that the farmers can minimize the loss due to monkeys and wild boar and enhance their income by cultivation of crops like, turmeric, ginger and tea plantation, which in turn will also reduce the migration of the youth.

Dr.A. Pattanayak, Director, ICAR-VPKAS appealed the farmers to adopt improved agricultural techniques developed for hills for getting more  production in less area. 

An interaction meet of farmers with the scientists of ICAR-VPKAS was also organized, in which various topics like, crop production, vegetable cultivation, seed production, scientific methods of diseases and pests management were discussed.

Around 350 farmers participated in the sammelan and improved agricultural tools were distributed.
