Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) visited ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya today. While taking stock of the institute’s research activities, Dr. Pathak visited Integrated Farming System research fields, Agril. Engineering Workshop, Livestock and Fisheries Farms, Organic Farming fields, and NICRA Research facilities.
During his interaction with Scientists & Staff of the Institute, he said that the agriculture sector is undergoing rapid changes, and therefore, ICAR scientists need to reorient and restructure their research priorities to sync with the evolving trends. He exhorted that ICAR needs to take a leadership position not only in knowledge generation but to ensure effective dissemination of the knowledge and technologies developed by ICAR. Dr. Pathak emphasized that ICAR is cognizant of the changes in Indian agriculture, and will leave no stone unturned for the development of NEH region and the country.
In his welcome address Dr. V. K. Mishra, Director, ICAR RC-NEH, Umiam briefed about the significant achievements of the Institute.
Dr. V. K. Gupta, Director, NRC on Pig, Guwahati and Dr. A. K. Mohanty, Director, ATARI-Zone-VII, Umiam were also present on the occasion.
