Scheduled Caste SHG women participated in ICAR-NBFGR's three-day skill-development training session on ornamental fish resources for generating money and a means of subsistence for women self-help group members under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan Scheme. Sh Bezwada Wilson, a recipient of the Ramon Magsaysay Award and the national coordinator of the Safai Karmachari Andolan, attended the event as the program's chief guest and in his address told that women are engulfed in the house and society, this training helped women he said that sky is the limit and was happy with the confidence of women. He informed that his organization work in 22 states having 600 SHG Group all over the country, He informed that ornamental fish sector provides immense potential with basic training of 2 to 3 days and women can start their business of sell small scale aquarium business with low cost input.
Dr. U.K. Sarkar, Director of ICAR-NBFGR, urged the women to launch their businesses and gave them the assurance that ICAR-NBFGR will support them technically and keep the links open. The training curriculum and the skills the ladies learned over the course of three days were summarized by Dr. Poonam Jayant Singh, Nodal SCSP.
