Short Course on ‘Patents in Agriculture’

The IP & TM Unit of ICAR and the Zonal Technology Management- Agribusiness Incubation Centre of ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology are conducted a short course on Patents in Agriculture today in virtual mode to enhance the capabilities of scientists of Indian Council for Agricultural Research in Intellectual Property Management.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Unnat P Pandit, Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trademarks, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Govt. of India, emphasised on the potential of a scientist, influencing thousands of individuals across the nation, underscoring the transformative power of intellectual property in Amrit Kaal. He further added that IP driven solutions are the need of the hour to solve issues in agriculture and allied sectors.

Dr. Neeru Bhooshan, Assistant Director General, IP&TM Unit, outlined the strategies for adopting IP protection and commercialisation in ICAR.

Dr. J.K Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries Science), emphasised the crucial role of intellectual property in advancing agriculture.

The virtual course is being organised from 15th January to 14th February 2024, and will benefit more than 300 scientists across ICAR Institutes.
