ICAR-National Meat Research Institute, Hyderabad, celebrated its 25th Foundation Day today in the presence of the Chief Guest, Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary, (DARE) & Director General, (ICAR), Dr. Pathak highlighted the institute's commitment to meat industry research through externally funded projects and collaborations.
Dr. S. B. Barbuddhe, Director, ICAR-NMRI, spoke about the journey and the milestones of the institute through these 25 years. He briefed about significant research activities and achievements of the Institute.
Dr. Amrish Kumar Tyagi, Assistant Director General (AN&P), ICAR, & Dr. S. K. Chaudhari, Deputy Director General (NRM) were also present during the programme.
Former institute directors, staff, entrepreneurs, and incubates were honoured for their hard work and dedication in shaping the institute's success.
The Institute Annual Report 2023, NMRI-25 years of excellence, a policy paper on building organized sheep and goat meat sector in India, Swachh meat Hub, and a technical brochure on organic livestock production were released to dignitaries during the programme.
Green nano-antibacterial technology and extruded pet snacks using poultry slaughter waste were commercialized. Four MoUs were signed with ITP Special Additives India Pvt. Ltd. Mumbai, M/s. KAP Pet Hospitality, M/s. Farm Fresh Chicken Meat and Fish, and M/s. GOAD Speed Fresh Pvt. Ltd. and one MoU was signed with AIIMS, Hyderabad. Two kits on LFA and LAT were released for rapid detection of Listeria monocytogenes and Bacillus anthracis spores in food samples and animal feed supplements.
