ICAR-National Research Centre on Yak, Dirang, in collaboration with ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology, Kolkata, completed a 3 Months Short Course Training Programme on “Manufacturing/Weaving of Woollen Items” in Dirang from 14th June to 13th September, 2023. The Central Wool Development Board, Jodhpur has financially supported to successful conduct of the programme under its HRD scheme of Intensive Wool Development Programme.
The valedictory program was held in the presence of Dr. G. S. Bhati, Member Secretary, Central Wool Board, Ministry of Textile, Dr. Mihir Sarkar, Director, ICAR-NRCY, Dirang and Dr. D. B. Shakywar, Director, ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata. All the dignitaries highlighted the scope and prospects of yak hairs with the importance of designs in textile manufacturing to make its products more remunerative. They also suggested the trainees implement their learning and asked them to come forward for the development of yak fiber-based entrepreneurship. All trainees were rewarded with Certificates of Training.
A total of 15 tribal women/unemployed youths participated in the program. They were also adept at employing synthetic wool in a variety of weaving and product-making techniques.
