Two days Annual Zonal Review Workshop of KVKs of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim has been organized by ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Zone VI, Guwahati in collaboration with Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, Assam at, Khanapara on 06th-7th July, 2023.
The programme started with the welcome address and brief overview of the workshop by Dr. G. Kadirvel, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone VI, Guwahati.
Dr. U.S. Gautam, in his Chief Guest remarks urged the KVKs to target Zero Technology Gap, Zero Hunger Gap etc. in their adopted villages. He also requested the KVKs to prepare policy briefs and database of the districts for their visibility in the districts.
Dr. Bidyut C. Deka in his address requested all the KVKs to focus on mainstreaming of ITKs which after little refinement may be filed for patent.
Dr. H. S. Gupta emphasized on increasing the cropping intensity of Assam. He also stressed that the processing and value addition require more attention.
Dr. K. M. Bujarbaruah in his remarks applauded the role of KVKs for bringing the framers fo the district in the forefront of agriculture.
The workshop was attended by Dr. R. R. Burman, Assistant Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR HQ, New Delhi and Directors of nearby ICAR institutes, representatives from the host institutes of KVKs, Senior Scientist & Heads of KVKs of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh & Sikkim, Scientists from ICAR-ATARI, Zone VI, Guwahati.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. P. K. Pathak, Director of Extension Education, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat.
