XXVII Research Advisory Committee (RAC) meeting

4th & 5th October 2023, Almora

The XXVII Research Advisory Committee (RAC) meeting of ICAR- Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan, Almora was held on 4th and 5th October 2023 under the Chairmanship of Dr. H. S. Gupta, Chairman, Agricultural Farmer’s Commission, Govt. of Assam (Former Director General, Borlaug Institute of South Asia (BISA) as well as Former Director, ICAR- IARI, and ICAR-VPKAS, Almora).

The RAC members namely Dr. Hemendra Chandra Bhattacharyya, Dean Daffodil College of Horticulture, DMET, Khetri, Assam; Dr. C. Chattopadhyay, Former Vice Chancellor, UBKV and Principal Scientist, CRIJAF, Kolkata; Dr. S. R. Maloo, Ex. Director (Research), MPUAT, Udaipur; Farmer member Shri Sanjeev Deshta, Dr. Lakshmi Kant, Director, ICAR-VPKAS, Almora and Dr. J. K. Bisht, Member Secretary, RAC (ICAR-VPKAS) along with HODs and Scientists were present in the meeting.

Dr. Lakshmi Kant, Director, ICAR– VPKAS, Almora, welcome the RAC Chairman and Members. He briefed about the institute’s performance in terms of varietal development, production & protection technologies, commercialization, patents obtained, research publications, awards and recognitions.

Dr. H. S. Gupta, RAC Chairperson, appreciated the research work of the institute and also praised the institute for its efforts in disseminating their technologies to hilly states of the country with special reference to the North-Western Himalayan region. In addition, the institute has also undertaken dissemination of the technology among the states of the North-Eastern hill region.

Dr. J.K. Bisht, Member Secretary, RAC presented ‘Action Taken Report (ATR) on the recommendations of XXVI RAC held on 15th-16th September 2022, which was approved by the RAC.
