A one-day farmers’ training and demonstration programme on Natural Farming, sponsored by the Regional Centre for Organic and Natural Farming (RCONF), Bengaluru, was organised by ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute at Codiem in Sattari taluka, North Goa.
The programme aimed to sensitise farmers about the principles and practices of natural farming and promote sustainable, low-cost agricultural approaches. During the training, participants were introduced to the fundamental concepts of natural farming, along with a clear understanding of the differences between organic and natural farming systems. Demonstrations were also conducted on the preparation and application of Beejamrit and Ghana Jeevamrit, highlighting the importance of utilising locally available natural resources for on-farm input production, thereby reducing farmers’ dependence on costly agro-chemicals.

Experts also elaborated on the Participatory Guarantee System (PGS–India) for organic certification implemented by the National Centre of Organic and Natural Farming, as well as the third-party organic certification process under the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) through APEDA. Farmers were further encouraged to adopt natural farming practices to reduce cultivation costs, enhance soil health, and improve the quality of agricultural produce, while also being informed about relevant government support schemes.
The programme included technical sessions on mulching techniques in natural farming, soil health management, and natural pest and disease management practices. In addition, a progressive farmer practicing natural farming shared practical field experiences and insights, motivating participants to adopt sustainable farming techniques in their own fields.

A total of 50 farmers (45 men and 5 women) along with five officials participated in the programme. The participants actively engaged with the experts, clarified their queries, and shared their experiences during the interactive technical sessions.
