ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, organized one day training and input distribution programme focused on Cashew under the Tribal Sub Plan Scheme sponsored by the Directorate of Cashew Research, Puttur, Karnataka, held today, at Vantem Village of Sattari Taluka, North Goa.
The officials highlighted departmental schemes for horticulture crops cultivated in the vicinity. A brief overview of the institute’s activities and achievements was presented, with a focus on cashew research, improved cultivation practices and newly developed technologies to support farmers. The session highlighted the benefits of intercropping in plantation crops and the adoption of good agricultural practices to enhance farm income.

The importance of high-quality planting material, recommended packages of practices for cashew cultivation, and proper post-harvest management for achieving better yields was also emphasized. Additionally, officials demonstrated soil sample collection techniques to the participating farmers.
Agricultural inputs such as pruning saws, koitas, gamelas, vermicompost, and cashew grafts (Goa Cashew 4) were distributed to 30 beneficiaries from the scheduled tribe community.
