ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Directorate of Fisheries, Government of West Bengal today for Cage culture in Kangsabati reservoir, Bankura, West Bengal.
Shri Biplab Roy Chaoudhury, Minister-in-Charge, Fisheries, Government of West Bengal was present on the occasion.
The MoU was signed by Dr. B. K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI and Dr. Vishwanath, IAS, Director, Department of Fisheries, Government of West Bengal for their respective organizations.
Shri Biplab Roy Choudhury stressed more collaboration and cooperation with ICAR-CIFRI for fisheries development in West Bengal.
Dr. B. K. Das briefed about the various activities and livelihood enhancement program undertaken by the institute in different parts of West Bengal.
As part of this MoU, Cage culture activities will be initiated at Kangsabati reservoir with table fish production in 32 ICAR-CIFRI GI CageÒ. The objectives of this development project are to dissemination of table fish production in cage culture; strengthening the capacity of Directorate of fisheriesthe , the resource user communities, and cooperatives.
Shri A. Singh, IAS, Secretary; Dr. Shamik Das, Additional Director from Dept of Fisheries; Scientists from ICAR-CIFRI along with senior officials of Govt of West Bengal were present on this occasion.
