One-day Zonal Review Workshop of ‘NICRA (National Innovations on Climate Resilient Agriculture)- Technology Demonstration Component’ was held at ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jodhpur today to discuss and finalize the technical programmes of KVK of identified vulnerable districts of Rajasthan and Haryana.
The Chief Guest, Dr VK Singh, Director ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad emphasized initiating new intervention models which have a direct bearing effect with climate change. He emphasized on Livestock-based farming systems and resource conservation technologies for the Arid region under NICRA-TDC modules.
The Guest of Honor, Dr OP Yadav, Director, ICAR-CAZRI emphasized revisiting the activities in order to make them more effective and make the interventions more flexible for the sustainable livelihood of the farmers.
Dr JP Mishra, Director, ATARI Jodhpur in his address, exhorted that there is an urgent need for devising strategies for adaptation to climate changes to sustain the production and productivity of various production systems, especially in the arid zone. These interventions under NICRA should be aligned with existing cropping practices of the region based on vulnerability, he added.
Prof AK Gupta, ZMC Chairman & Dr PC Bhatnagar, Former Head & PS, CAZRI Jodhpur were the Guests of Honour.
Dr PP Rohilla NICRA Nodal Officer briefed about salient findings under NICRA-TDC during the year 2021 compiled from vulnerable districts of Rajasthan and Haryana states.
The meeting was attended by Officials of SAUs of ICAR Institutes, ICAR-ATARI-II, Jodhpur, ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad, Directors of Extension Education from Haryana and Rajasthan states, Sr. Scientists & Heads of the 18. NICRA-KVKs and other technical staff.
