ICAR-National Institute of Abiotic Stress Management, Baramati celebrated its 15th foundation day today.
Dr. K Sammi Reddy, Director, ICAR-NIASM highlighted the achievements made by the institute in research, education, and development during the year 2022. He appreciated the phenomenal work done by the staff of the institute and discussed the reforms needed for the future growth of the institute.
The 5th foundation day lecture was delivered by Dr. N V P R Ganga Rao, Principal Scientist, CIMMYT, Nairobi, Kenya, on the topic "Crop Improvement Approaches for Effective Abiotic Stress Management in Cropping Systems: Achievements and Way forward." The lecture focused on the various aspects of millet area and productivity, the pigeon pea revolution in Malawi and other African nations, and the scope for collaborative work between CGIAR and ICAR.
Dr. Harish Gandhi, Principal Scientist, CIMMYT urged the young scientists to take the lead in innovative solutions with climate-resilient technologies.
On this occasion, 15 progressive farmers were also awarded for their innovative farming practices and for achieving higher production in dragon fruit, sugarcane, organic farming, natural, and integrated farming.
Dr. Nitin Kurade, Convenor of the program, delivered the welcome address of the function.
The program was attended by scientific, technical administrative, contractual, young professionals, and security staff of the institute.
