MDP for Newly Recruited Senior Scientists & Heads of Krishi Vigyan Kendras

The VIII MDP for Newly Recruited Senior Scientists & Heads of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (31st January - 14th   February 2023) organized by ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad concluded here today.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Udham Singh Gautam, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR in his valedictory address appreciated the capacity-building role of NAARM in imparting this much-needed training to Heads of KVKs. He highlighted the future plans of ICAR in strengthening the frontline extension system in general and KVKs in particular. Further, he urged the Academy’s cooperation in extending capacity-building support to the Subject Matter Specialists and other technical staff of KVKs.

In his presidential remarks, Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, highlighted the contributions of the Academy in strengthening the frontline extension role of ICAR, besides reassuring the capacity-building support of the Academy to the KVK system. He called upon the Heads of KVKs to make the best use of various capacity-building and academic programmes of the Academy to strengthen their human resource capacity.

Dr. Sheikh N. Meera, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone X, Hyderabad was the Guest of Honour.

He lauded the contributions of KVKs in agricultural development in the country over the years. He also urged the participants to make KVKs vibrant, responsive and accountable science-based agri institutions at the district level through continuous innovations.

Fifteen newly recruited Heads of KVKs representing seven ATARI Zones participated in this programme.

The programme content consisted of modules on the Organization and management aspects of KVKs, Communication (Oral and Written) management, Human resource management, Technological content and media management, and Administration and Finance Management as relevant to KVKs.

This programme is jointly planned and implemented by the Agricultural Extension Division of ICAR, ICAR-NAARM and ICAR-ATARIs exclusively for the newly recruited Senior Scientists Heads of KVKs. It consists of 3 phases viz., 1st Phase of 15 days at ICAR-NAARM, 2nd Phase of 10 days at Best KVK in other Zone and 3rd Phase of five days at respective ATARIs.
