KVK-Ri-Bhoi Celebrated International Women’s Day 2024

ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ri-Bhoi, celebrated ‘International Women’s Day’ today under the theme ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’ to raise awareness and mark the importance of women in the region.

Dr. A.K. Mohanty, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone-VII, Umiam, emphasised investment in education, healthcare, and financial empowerment of women for the progress of the future generation.

Dr. Mokidul Islam, Principal Scientist and Head of ICAR-KVK, Ri-Bhoi, highlighted the different roles women play in the overall development of a family and society.

Dr Meghna Sarma, SMS (Agronomy) highlighted the role of women in society and paved the way for the future generation. She encouraged the farm women to come forward and fight for their rights.

The programme was attended by 250 numbers of women farmers and entrepreneurs from different SHGs’ and FPOs of the Ri-Bhoi district.
