A short course on antimicrobial resistance and drug residues organised

A short course on ‘Molecular Approaches for Management of Livestock Diseases to Mitigate Antimicrobial Resistance and Drug Residues in the Food Chain’ was organised at ICAR-National Research Centre on Camel, Bikaner, from February 11-21, 2025. The training, sponsored by ICAR, was attended by 25 permanent faculty members from various State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) and ICAR institutes.
Dr S.K. Ghorui, Director, NRCC, emphasized the importance of adopting innovative diagnostic and detection technologies to minimize drug residues in animal-derived food products, ensuring both animal and human health are safeguarded.
The Chief Guest for the valedictory session, Dr T.K. Bhattacharya, Director, ICAR-National Research Centre on Equine, urged extending the programme to a full 21-day course in the future to provide participants with more opportunities for hands-on training with modern technologies.
The course included 32 lectures and practical sessions, offering participants hands-on training in cutting-edge OMICS technologies.
