Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, reviewed the performance of ICAR-National Institute of Biotic Stresses Management during his visit to Raipur today. The Minister commended the research accomplishments of the institute and urged ICAR-NIBSM to focus on basic research work for biotic stresses in agriculture. He also acknowledged the work done under different outreach programs for marginal farmers.
In a meeting with the Joint Directors, administrative, and finance officers, the Minister focused on plant disease diagnostic kits, genome editing, and the use of bioagents in managing biotic stress in crops. He further stressed the need to accelerate bio-intensive agriculture to lower pesticide consumption.
Earlier, Dr Anil Dixit, Joint Director, presented an overview of the institute’s achievements and important activities.
All the Joint Directors, SAO, FAO, and AO were present during the meeting.
Dr Pankaj Sharma, Joint Director coordinated the programme.
