ICAR-IISS, Bhopal celebrates its 35th Foundation Day

The ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh celebrated its 35th Foundation Day here today.

Delivering the Foundation Day Lecture, the Chief Guest, Dr. Suresh Kumar Chaudhari, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management), ICAR urged the Institute for playing a leading role in conducting the Research in the untouched areas of soil science and chalk out the plans for the next 15 to 20 Years to make 50 Years of glorious existence in fulfilling the farming community vis-à-vis safeguarding the soil resource. Dr. Chaudhari also advised the Institute’s Scientists and Staff Members to work with a positive attitude as a team for serving the Institute and, in turn, the nation.

The Guest of Honour, Prof. V.S. Tomar, Former Vice-Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh stressed on the need for maintaining the soil physical properties for better soil chemical and biological environment.

Dr. C.R. Mehta, Director, ICAR-Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal accentuated on more research for improving the soil health and collaboration between the ICAR-IISS and ICAR-CIAE for the efficient soil management.

Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries, Dr. Ashok K. Patra, Director, ICAR-IISS, Bhopal underlined the Institute’s achievements including the several National and International Awards in the last 2 Years. The Institute’s various technologies like development of Integrated Plant Nutrient Management Modules for lowering carbon footprints, Mridaparikshak, soil carbon management technologies, automated soil nutrient sensing technologies, etc., were also highlighted by Dr. Patra.

The Former Directors of the Institute - Dr. P.N. Takkar, and Dr. C.L. Acharya also graced the occasion virtually.

The event registered participation by 200 Scientists and Staff Members of the Institute, Progressive Farmers, Invited Guests from the various Organizations and Academia, etc.
