Workshop on “Present Status, Challenges and Prospects of Small Ruminant Rearers” organized

The ICAR-Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute, Avikanagar, Rajasthan organized a Workshop on “Present Status, Challenges and Prospects of Small Ruminant Rearers” today.

The Chief Guest, Dr. S.K. Garg, Vice-Chancellor, Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Bikaner, Rajasthan inaugurated the Exhibition organized to showcase the Elite Germplasm / Breeds / Strains of Sheep, Goat & Rabbits and technologies developed by different Divisions of the Institute, etc. In his inaugural address, Dr. Garg encouraged the participants to work in an organizational form in the field of animal husbandry with the inclusion of scientific methods and technologies.

Dr. Arun Kumar Tomar, Director, ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar briefed about the Institute’s technologies and activities. He also highlighted importance of sheep and goat rearing in the present scenario and urged to spread the technologies of Avikanagar in the respective areas of KVKs.

Dr. S.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone - II, Jodhpur, Rajasthan urged the KVKs to take-up and popularize the Institute’s technologies & products among the farmers.

The Workshop was organized for the Head and Subject Matter Specialists (Animal Science) of the KVKs of Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi to facilitate and transfer the ICAR-CSWRI technologies to the livestock farmers, small and large-scale Entrepreneurs, etc., with an aim for doubling the income of farmers and stakeholders.

A total of 89 participants from 58 KVKs participated in the Workshop.
