The National Farmers Day also known as Kisan Divas is celebrated on 23rd December every year to mark the Birth Anniversary the 5th Prime Minister of India, Shri Choudhary Charan Singh.
The occasion marks the display of a wide array of various programmes, debates, seminars, competitions, discussions, workshops and exhibitions, etc., on the farmers’ unparalleled contributions for the growth and progress of the country’s economy.
ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture, Chennai
The Institute celebrated the day with the Fishers, Tribal Farmers and Fisheries Students at Muttukadu Experimental Station, Muttukadu, Kancheepuram District, Tamil Nadu today.
Dr. K.P. Jithendran, Director, ICAR-CIBA, Chennai apprised the participants about the employment opportunities in the Fisheries and Aquaculture Sectors, especially, for the Youths and Students. The importance of cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene among the students and farmers was also highlighted by Dr. Jithendran.
The participants were showcased the technology protocol for the recycling of fish wastes to the value-added products and their usage in commercial aquaculture, agriculture and marketing potential.
About 120 Farmers, Students, Scientists and Staff Members of the Institute participated in the programme.
ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad
In his address, Dr. G. Venkateshwarlu, Joint Director, ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad urged the PGD-Agri-Business Management (PGD-ABM) Students of the Academy for rededicating their services for the farming communities’ welfare.
The Academy organized an Interactive Meeting of the Innovative Farmers with the Young Entrepreneurs of the Agri-Business Management of the Academy.
